Is Apollo Crews Now Just Apollo?

10:06 PM

Not too long ago, the WWE started the "Crews Can't Lose" angle with Apollo Crews. He would end up losing (because duh), but interestingly enough, Apollo's lost his surname. At least, that's according to his WWE.com Superstar page.

Now this isn't necessarily new; Big E hasn't been "Langston" in a while, just like Elias is no longer "Samson" and Cesaro no longer goes by "Antonio." Thing is, the timing of this one is different. The world has been rocked by the horrific shooting in Florida by a man named Nikolas Cruz, and according to Sportskeeda, Vince McMahon himself doesn't want to hear the name "Crews" again, so they decided to chop Apollo's name in half. Makes total sense, and truth be told, Apollo doesn't lose anything by dropping the "Crews." Hell, we would've been a-OK with him debuting as Uhah Nation, but whatever works.

Interestingly enough, Terry Crews was on Twitter earlier today injecting himself into this name change.

Everything Black People Did on 'Raw': The Black Squad

12:34 PM

It was seriously quiet for black folk on Raw this week (and every week?), but something amazing did, in fact, happen.

Jason Jordan, Titus O'Neil, and Apollo Crews linked up to win a match

Now I saw some other outlets getting huffy because "oh, it's the 'put all the black guys on one team'" gimmick, and usually this would piss me off, but it's not that far out of line. It's not like there hasn't been beef between Elias and Titus WORLDWIDE over the last few weeks. And hell, any time I can see three black guys win a match on Raw? Here. For. It.

Plus, it's better than some black-on-black crime, which we'll get into a little later. Hell, we might even see Jordan joining WORLDWIDE!

Cedrick Alexander beats Jack Gallagher

I can't front; it's hard to get excited for 205 Live. That said, I'm not mad at this match, primarily because we got to see Cedric and Rich Homie Swann buddied up.

And they were on the same side, which is more than I can say for this next match...

Sasha Banks defeats Alicia Fox

I don't know or can't remember why this is a feud; it has something to do with Fox feeling disrespected last week when she lost. Whatever, it's happening, and even though the obvious is occurring (Sasha winning, duh), it looks like this must go on.

That's all the black folks for this week on Raw. For the full details on this week's Raw, check out WWE.com. Continue Reading

Everything Black People Did On 'Raw': No Mizzies for Black Folk

10:51 PM

On a night where The Shield reunited to kick off Raw, you knew our black brothers and sisters were going to be some also rans. Don't believe me? Here it go.\

Jason Jordan defeats Karl Anderson

Because 50/50 booking is still a thing. At least he won...but what does any of this mean?

Elias beats Apollo Crews...again

Why even continue to have matches in this series? Elias is continuing to defeat the black guy to set him up for...who? What does defeating Apollo every week even mean?

Cedric Alexander can't win a tag team match

Sure, this was used to get people familiar with Gallagher being a heel now, but goddamn. Should black folk just lay down?

Sasha Banks eliminates Alicia Fox...to then get eliminated by Emma

Now, this was basically a match to be the woman Asuka fucks the fuck up during TLC, but did we need black-on-black defeats to then get a defeat by Emma? I give up.

Everything Black People Did On 'Raw': Black to Basics

10:56 PM

Welp; last night's pay-per-view really showed no mercy to the black superstars on the Raw roster. Get it? I'll stop.

Jason Jordan with the assist

Old ass Matt Hardy teamed up with Black Angle because Jeff's shoulder is jacked up. Black Angle got a good amount of offense, but it was the Matt Hardy show ftw.

Apollo Crews stays losing

Because last night's loss wasn't enough? Interesting to see Titus actually being incorporated with the finish and post-match fuckery. Will he be getting back into the ring is the real question.

Sasha Banks and Bayley team up to defeat Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss

Whatever this means.

There's the long and the short of it. Full results are available over on WWE.com. Continue Reading

Everything Black People Did at WWE No Mercy 2017

10:11 PM

Decent amount of black folk on WWE No Mercy: Sasha Banks is up for the Raw Women's Championship, Jason Jordan's up for the Intercontinental Championship, and Apollo Crews is...somewhere.

#OtungaBack

I know, he's been doing these kick-off shows for a bit, but what does this mean—should we be expecting David Otunga back on a show any time soon? Does he even still wrestle?

Apollo Crews loses to Elias

Guess that win on Raw was a set up for Crews to lose? One of these days, a brotha's gonna get some momentum.

The Miz defeats Jason Jordan

Welp. We figured Jordan would lose; no reason to give him the strap that early. Hopefully this means their program continues. And if it does, it better continue with better burns, because this post-match interview was horrid.

Sasha Banks did not win the Raw Women's Championship

As much as I love seeing Sasha hit the Bankrupt then flip it into the Bank Statement, I'm tired of seeing her lose.

AAAAAND that's it. After black superstars have an amazing night on Raw, they lost every match they were in not even a week later at No Mercy. Joy. Full results are over on WWE.com. Continue Reading

Everything Black People Did On 'Raw': Bet On Black

9:07 AM

Was this the best episode of Raw for black people in recent memory? It sure feels like it.

Sasha Banks helps Bayley attack Alexa Bliss

I honestly don't even know anymore. Nia Jax wins on a night Bayley returns. Sasha and Bayley, who I think are the faces, then attack the heel Alexa Bliss...so are we finally starting to build up Bayley, who returns in her hometown and is now on the No Mercy card? Whatever, at least she didn't get beat.

Apollo Crews has a match!

And he gets a win...yeah, it's over Curt Hawkins, but WORLD-WIDE! WORLD-WIDE!

Now, earlier in the show...

Which then lead to...

When THEN lead to...

Jason Jordan becomes the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship

Not going to say the problems we spoke on last week have been rectified, as this was always a rumored storyline for Jordan since before Summerslam. Fingers crossed that this is the push they'd been waiting to give him, and that we (finally) get some development to Jordan's character.

HOPEFULLY, the WWE can keep this (black) streak going. Full results over on WWE.com. Continue Reading

Everything That Black People Did On 'Raw': Jordan Rules

9:50 AM

The show does the same shit every week, especially if you're black. Don't believe me?

Jason Jordan gets beat by Roman Reigns

So last week, Cena had a competitive match against Jordan that ended in Jordan losing and Reigns coming out to jawjack with Cena. This week, Reigns has a competitive match against Jordan that ended in Jordan losing and Cena coming out to jawjack with Reigns.

The thing is, it looks like the WWE is trying to get Jordan over by making him the fighting pawn in this series. That'd be dope...if Jordan got to, I don't know, SPEAK. Or do more than fight and lose.

Titus Worldwide wishes Nikki Bella luck on Dancing With The Stars

Nigga, stop. Just stop. Ya'll ain't even on TV with this shit. But guess who IS on TV.

Sasha Banks defeats Emma

Banks, who has a legit rematch for the Raw Women's Championship, has to face Emma, who's...white and begging for a title match? They are 2/4 of the Fatal 4-Way at No Mercy, so of course Sasha has to beat Emma because...why? #shrug

No matter Sasha's highkey frustrated with Raw's week-to-week booking. Same, Sasha. Same.

Check out WWE.com for a full rundown of this week's Raw. Continue Reading

Everything Black People Did on 'Raw': Aug. 28, 2017 Edition

11:11 PM
Image via WWE

Wanna know how bad black folk had it on Raw this week? Hurricane Harvey forced Booker T to be replaced by Jerry Lawler on commentary, and one forgettable battle royale featured three forgettable black superstars.

Black Guys Lose In A Battle Royal

Of course two white guys throwing Apollo Crews out of the ring is what they go with for the thumbnail. We've not gotten enough Crews on Raw as of late, so of course he shares ring space with Jason Jordan and R-Truth to become afterthoughts in a battle royale to determine the #1 contender for the IC championship. Jordan got put over on commentary, but c'mon.

Vince Carter joins Titus Worldwide

Because this matters?

Sasha Banks lost the WWE Raw Women's Championship to Alexa Bliss

All so they could set up Nia Jax versus Alexa Bliss. No surprises, but damn, Sasha always gets shafted with these title wins.
