The time has come—the third annual #BRP50 list is here! COVID-19 put a hurt on the wrestling industry, but that doesn't mean we couldn't highlight the best Black professional wrestlers in the game today. We dropped a brief look at the criteria that goes into making a list like this, and now it's time for YOU to see that plan put into motion.

Rich Swann and WWE Part Ways

The WWE released the following statement regarding Rich Swann earlier today:

Rich Swann and WWE have mutually agreed to part ways as of today, February 15, 2018.

WWE wishes Swann the best in all of his future endeavors.

Word is that the charges against Swann were dropped in January, but there's been no talk of Swann being brought back to the 205 Live roster as of late. Swann fans in the New York area can see him at Big Event in Queens on March 10th. Continue Reading

Rich Swann Suspended Indefinitely Following Arrest on Charges of Battery and False Imprisonment

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann is currently in jail after being arrested around midnight on charges of battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment of an adult. This morning, the WWE issued the following statement, suspending Swann indefinitely.

"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Rich Swann has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest."

According to the police report, the altercation was between Swann and his wife, Vannarah Riggs, who is a pro wrestler who performs under the name Su Yung and competed in FCW as Sonia. After a performance in Gainesville, Riggs said Swann was driving them from the event and critiquing her performance. Riggs says Swann got angry, and she feared that he might physically attack her, so she dipped out of the car.

The report, which includes to eyewitness statements, says that Swann then got out of the car, which was still moving slowly, and chased after Riggs. He apparently caught up with her, grabbed her by the arm, then put her into a headlock, forcing her back into the vehicle.

Swann says that he never touched her, and that Riggs got back into the car on her own. He's saying he just needed her to be in the car because she had the directions on her GPS and he wanted to get home.

Gainesville PD released both his mugshot and the police report via Twitter.


PopCulture.com is reporting that "[t]he charge of kidnapping and false imprisonment of an adult is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. It is a third-degree felony. Swann was also charge with battery (touching/strike), which carries a possible penalty of up to a year in prison or 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine. That is a first degree misdemeanor."

Swann and Riggs got married back in March of 2017, after being together for something like five years.

Swann's been a shining star on 205 Live for some time, not only winning the Cruiserweight title a little over a year ago, but holding the Championship through the end of 2016 before losing it to Neville at the 2017 Royal Rumble. Many felt he was working his way back into title contention; Drew Gulak was set to face Swann in a #1 Contenders match on Raw tomorrownight, but something like a battery charge—with kidnapping charges added to it—has no doubt fucked up his future with the WWE, and quite possibly his career as a professional wrestler after this. All of the hype about this year's Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view had zilch to do with black superstars. At least David Otunga was around...?

Sasha Banks defeats Alicia Fox



Yeah, Sasha basically beat Alicia's ass in the Kick-Off show. No surprises TBQH.



Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann defeat The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher



I actually like seeing these four perform. If there was a way that Alexander and Rich Homie Swann could compete on the main roster for the Tag Titles, that'd be a dream come true. Not sure how I'm supposed to feel about them beating a whole dreadlock off of Swann's skull, but...



Jason Jordan defeats Elias



After spending most of the night throwing fruit at Elias, Black Angle got a match in the death spot against Elias. And won. Woopdidy doo.

Xavier Woods Suffered MCL Sprain During WWE House Show

Overnight, word spread on the rasslin' internets that Xavier Woods, aka one-third of The New Day, was injured during a house show match in Texarkana, Arkansas against The Usos. Tuesday morning, video of the injury hit Twitter.



After taking to Twitter to say that his injury "didn't even look cool," Woods hopped on an UpUpDownDown livestream to confirm that he is injured, and that it was an MCL sprain. Becky Lynch, who was also on the livestream, said that she had a similar injury and it took about a month to heal. She even said she was able to wrestle with this type of injury, so maybe Woods won't miss any TV time (at the very least)?

According to Wrestling Inc., the severity of the tear can determine how long Woods would be out. If it's a grade 1, he could see heal time take about a week; for a grade 2, it'd be two-to-four weeks. Everything Black People Did on 'Raw': BKLYN Edition

One night removed from SummerSlam and...black people haven't really advanced at all. Don't believe me? Just watch.

R-Truth gets his ass kicked by Elias, again



This was legit the first black superstar to hit the program. No explanation of where he was at SummerSlam...but you know. And Truth lost!

Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann are on the winning team



Not sure if an eight-man 205 Live tag team match was necessary, but it's dope to see the black cruiserweights squad up.

Sasha Banks talked a lot.



And I don't know about you, but I'm really not feeling Sasha's promos. Almost thankful Alexa broke it up.

Jason Jordan loses...again



Why they put him up against Finn Balor is anyone's guess. What was the point of even bringing him to Raw? Why did he get to go up against Finn? What is going on?
