Well, it's about that time...the WWE's returned for Survivor Series. And while the huge Raw versus Smackdown angle is in full effect, black people aren't doing much. On paper, we just have The New Day, Sasha Banks, Naomi, and Alicia Fox on the card, and it looks like their matches will go down during the first hour. We're not even sure what Jason Jordan has in store. Sounds about white.
Let's see what black folk got into during this year's Survivor Series.
Talk about a solid opener. Thing is, you already knew THe New Day wasn't leaving Survivor Series with a W over The Shield. Good to see this match get as physical as it did, though.
Sasha Banks, Alicia Fox, and Naomi were eliminated from the Women's Traditional Survivor Series Match
No surprises here; there was talk that the WWE didn't want to put Asuka in this match to lose, so making her the sole survivor for the Raw squad made sense. Don't like Alicia Fox being eliminated by Naomi, who in turn got eliminated by Sasha Banks, but you know, whatever works for the WWE.
Also, Jason Jordan gave a speech that was so important that I can't even find it online. Yeah, it was that kind of night. Check out the full results on WWE.com.Continue Reading
I know, it's been a long time, yadda yadda. Black folk haven't faired any better. Here'd a look at what went down (for black folk) on the Survivor Series go-home edition of Raw.
This match was all about Bayley getting on the Women's Raw team for Sunday night, so Sasha and Alicia just got to stand in the ring like they weren't just beating each other's ass a month ago. At least they got to finally get into the ring?
Sure, he ended up getting the win, but Bray jacked Jordan's leg up, which plays into the main storyline of the show (Black Angle's daddy messing up the brand and the Survivor Series team).
Triple H gives Jason Jordan a Pedigree
Jordan has a spot on Team Raw, but with all of the concerns over Angle possibly shitcanning the team (and the brand), Triple H magnificently returns, Pedigrees an already-injured Jordan, and takes his spot. And now you know why Triple H has been doing so much ring work overseas.
So yeah, no Titus Worldwide, no black man on Team Raw, and no actually black women wrestling this week. Why do I do these again? For full results, head over to WWE.com.Continue Reading
Yeah, Sasha basically beat Alicia's ass in the Kick-Off show. No surprises TBQH.
Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann defeat The Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher
I actually like seeing these four perform. If there was a way that Alexander and Rich Homie Swann could compete on the main roster for the Tag Titles, that'd be a dream come true. Not sure how I'm supposed to feel about them beating a whole dreadlock off of Swann's skull, but...
It was seriously quiet for black folk on Raw this week (and every week?), but something amazing did, in fact, happen.
Jason Jordan, Titus O'Neil, and Apollo Crews linked up to win a match
Now I saw some other outlets getting huffy because "oh, it's the 'put all the black guys on one team'" gimmick, and usually this would piss me off, but it's not that far out of line. It's not like there hasn't been beef between Elias and Titus WORLDWIDE over the last few weeks. And hell, any time I can see three black guys win a match on Raw? Here. For. It.
Plus, it's better than some black-on-black crime, which we'll get into a little later. Hell, we might even see Jordan joining WORLDWIDE!
Cedrick Alexander beats Jack Gallagher
I can't front; it's hard to get excited for 205 Live. That said, I'm not mad at this match, primarily because we got to see Cedric and Rich Homie Swann buddied up.
And they were on the same side, which is more than I can say for this next match...
Sasha Banks defeats Alicia Fox
I don't know or can't remember why this is a feud; it has something to do with Fox feeling disrespected last week when she lost. Whatever, it's happening, and even though the obvious is occurring (Sasha winning, duh), it looks like this must go on.
That's all the black folks for this week on Raw. For the full details on this week's Raw, check out WWE.com.Continue Reading
On a night where The Shield reunited to kick off Raw, you knew our black brothers and sisters were going to be some also rans. Don't believe me? Here it go.\
Jason Jordan defeats Karl Anderson
Because 50/50 booking is still a thing. At least he won...but what does any of this mean?
Elias beats Apollo Crews...again
Why even continue to have matches in this series? Elias is continuing to defeat the black guy to set him up for...who? What does defeating Apollo every week even mean?
Now, this was basically a match to be the woman Asuka fucks the fuck up during TLC, but did we need black-on-black defeats to then get a defeat by Emma? I give up.
After a trip on a ship, we're back with a look at what black folk did on Raw. We got one real come-up (big up Sasha Banks), and the rest was kind of ho-hum. Just how shit goes, I guess.
In a rare women's match featuring two black women, Banks pervailed in a qualifying match for the Triple Threat Raw Women's Championship match at SummerSlam. As if there was any doubt.
And yeah, that's pretty much it, unless you want to talk about Titus O'Neil being ringside during a Tozawa match. But we won't. Continue Reading
After Great Balls of Fire proved that only one black Superstar deserves to be on a decent pay-per-view, we're back with another edition of Raw, following up a week where most of the black Superstars (who aren't named Titus or Apollo) actually got the wins (or the come-up) on their opponents.
Let's see how black folk fared on Raw this week.
Booker T said "contentionship"
You can't make this shit up. It also looks like Booker T's IRL brother/Harlem Heat tag team partner (and former nWo member) Stevie Ray was in the building...and crashed a Gallows and Anderson interview?
Again, you can't make this shit up.
Sasha Banks competed in the same match from last week
After winning her match against WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss at Great Balls of Fireby COUNT OUT, Banks and Bayley teamed up once again to battle Bliss and Nia Jax in a tag match. This week, the seemingly-forgotten Bayley got the pin, but Sasha and Alexa's feud must continue, so they faced off. #shrug
After getting the one-up on Goldust last week, R-Truth goes out like he did the week prior: by getting ran into the ringpost. It appears to be his kryptonite.
Cedric Alexander and Akira Tozawa defeat Noam Dar and Neville
This match is important because, including the referee, there were four people doing shit in this match (Cedric was actually wrestling, and Titus O'Neil AND Alicia Fox were ringside). It's 205 Live, though, so...at least Cedric got to show off his moves.
And yeah, that's about it. Highkey need the WWE to hire some more black Superstars, so these posts can be about more than the same like 5 or 6 people.Continue Reading
The WWE is reporting that Alicia Fox got injured during Raw last night:
Alicia Fox sustained a mild concussion during her tag team match on Raw, WWE.com can confirm.
I mean, we wish her a speedy recovery and all, and I'm glad she's rocking with Team Bella, but... yeah. I'm not really tripping. Especially with Sasha Banks in the house.Continue Reading
