Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann is currently in jail after being arrested around midnight on charges of battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment of an adult. This morning, the WWE issued the following statement, suspending Swann indefinitely.
"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Rich Swann has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest."
According to the police report, the altercation was between Swann and his wife, Vannarah Riggs, who is a pro wrestler who performs under the name Su Yung and competed in FCW as Sonia. After a performance in Gainesville, Riggs said Swann was driving them from the event and critiquing her performance. Riggs says Swann got angry, and she feared that he might physically attack her, so she dipped out of the car.
The report, which includes to eyewitness statements, says that Swann then got out of the car, which was still moving slowly, and chased after Riggs. He apparently caught up with her, grabbed her by the arm, then put her into a headlock, forcing her back into the vehicle.
Swann says that he never touched her, and that Riggs got back into the car on her own. He's saying he just needed her to be in the car because she had the directions on her GPS and he wanted to get home.
Gainesville PD released both his mugshot and the police report via Twitter.
PopCulture.com is reporting that "[t]he charge of kidnapping and false imprisonment of an adult is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. It is a third-degree felony. Swann was also charge with battery (touching/strike), which carries a possible penalty of up to a year in prison or 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine. That is a first degree misdemeanor."
Swann and Riggs got married back in March of 2017, after being together for something like five years.
Swann's been a shining star on 205 Live for some time, not only winning the Cruiserweight title a little over a year ago, but holding the Championship through the end of 2016 before losing it to Neville at the 2017 Royal Rumble. Many felt he was working his way back into title contention; Drew Gulak was set to face Swann in a #1 Contenders match on Raw tomorrownight, but something like a battery charge—with kidnapping charges added to it—has no doubt fucked up his future with the WWE, and quite possibly his career as a professional wrestler after this.Continue Reading
I remember reading Bret's book, speaking on The Anvil's drug abuse, but it looks like it all came to a head over the weekend:
"...former WWE performer James Henry Neidhart, 55, (a/k/a Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart) was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with two counts of possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, two counts of trafficking illegal drugs, one count of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, and one count of third degree grand theft for property stolen between $300 and $5,000.
The father of WWE Diva Natalya was arrested at 2:50 p.m. after deputies were alerted to him being loud and unruly as he was pumping gas at the A.J. Food Market, located at 9806 Tom Folsom Road. He was seen opening pill bottles located in the trunk of his silver Pontiac Sunfire, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff's arrest report.
When authorities arrived to the scene, he was agitated and aggressive. He was observed "ingesting multiple pills that he dropped on the ground while inside the trunk of his vehicle," the sheriff's office arrest report states.
Neidhart is currently being held without bond pending his first appearance before a judge."
WWE wrestler Chris Jericho was arrested at a gas station in Kentucky early Wednesday morning after cops say he and a fellow wrestler were both "extremely intoxicated" in public.
39-year-old Jericho was taken into custody in Kenton County around 5 AM for "alcohol intoxication in a public place."
Jericho -- who was arrested along with fellow wrestler Greg "Hurricane" Helms -- was forced to smile for cop cam -- and TMZ obtained the mug shots.
Jericho and Helms were released on $120 bond -- each ... no that's not a typo.
This can't be a good look so close to the Rumble. Vince won't fuck up rumored storylines of Jericho and Edge going in for 'Mania (I hope), but Hurricane might be in a word of trouble.
WWE wrestler Greg "Hurricane" Helms allegedly smacked several people -- including a woman -- before he and Chris Jericho were arrested at a Kentucky gas station yesterday, law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
We're told several people were in a taxi cab with Helms and Jericho when things allegedly got violent around 4 AM yesterday.
Cops say they spoke to several members of the group who told them Helms struck three people -- including Jericho, a man named Gary Kelley and a female passenger named Ashley Storer.
Witnesses told cops Helms ran from the scene right after the violent incident but returned to the gas station soon after, where he -- along with Jericho -- was arrested for being drunk in public.
Cops say Helms was not arrested for the alleged attack because the alleged victims have not pressed charges -- a requirement for an arrest in Kentucky if the police do not witness the attack.
Ashley told cops she did not want to file charges against Helms -- but Kelley told police he's mulling it over and may go after the wrestler.
Well damn. I wonder if he was playfighting/smacking or really hauling off...
WWE star Matt Hardy was among a group of people involved in an early morning incident that led to the arrests of Chris Jericho and Greg "Hurricane" Helms, this according to law enforcement sources.
Witnesses told cops Hardy was in a taxi with Jericho, Helms and several others Wednesday morning -- when Helms allegedly struck three people ... including one female.
Witnesses say Hardy took off on foot -- just like Helms allegedly did -- when the cab driver pulled over at a Kentucky gas station and called 911.
We're told Helms came back to the scene and was arrested -- but Hardy was gone for good. Cops are not pursuing any sort of action against Hardy.
As we first reported, the female passenger decided not to file charges against Helms over the alleged attack. Helms and Jericho were arrested for "alcohol intoxication in a public place."
So Hurricane flew away, Matt Hardy 2.0 is moving up a version and was The Flash, just leaving Jericho? Was he passed out or some shit?
Friday Update Ashley Storer, the woman in this situation, says her getting struck was a result of "playfighting" (as I alluded to earlier - God I'm good). Anyways, Randy Orton was also asked about this situation:
According to an article on ThePilot.com, former WWE star Jeff Hardy is in a Moore County jail after being arrested on charges of "trafficking in controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids."
The article states that Hardy was arrested after a search of his residence in Cameron revealed he was in possession of 262 Vicodin prescription pills, 180 Soma prescription pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, a "residual amount of powder cocaine" and drug paraphernalia items.
The search was part of a joint investigation conducted by offers with the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics and select enforcement units and the Fayetteville Police Department. The article noted that "Vicodin and anabolic steriods are Schedule III substances", while Soma is a non-controlled prescription pill.
