Monday Night Ray
If you're like me, this whole "guest host" on RAW thing is a win/lose. While there've been some dope nights (Ted DiBiase hosting made for an interesting RAW), shit like ZZ Top and Jeremy Piven hosting have been letdowns. Variety has an article up, basically saying RAW is a new part of the "talkshow circuit", which is an interesting comment - seeing as though anyone who is guest hosting has to do more than just hype up their forthcoming project, they essentially become part of the show for a night... one of the biggest shows on cable today.Anyways, they've revealed some of the names set to guest host on RAW in the future (FYI: Freddie Prinze Jr. is hosting tonight), and it is looking a bit odd:
Upcoming booked talent includes former gameshow host Bob Barker, the Rev. Al Sharpton, "Access Hollywood" co-host Nancy O'Dell, boxer Floyd Mayweather and basketball player LeBron James. Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, the Osbournes, Danny DeVito, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, Jimmy Fallon, Rachael Ray, MC Hammer, Woody Harrelson, Serena Williams and Ashton Kutcher also are in talks for hosting gigs.
Christ. While I think it might be interesting to see Ashton host (remember his "Farmhand" segments on Punk'd?), fucking Regis and Kelly? Hammer? AL SHARPTON??!!? Sounds like a ridiculous fail to me. I do wanna see Rachel Ray up there - I dig her.
